A Word From Inside

A Word From Inside is a project initiated through The Community for Working and Learning, founded by Carlos Smith, an incarcerated organizer at Moose Lake Correctional Facility, and co-founded by the men of the Stillwater Correctional Facility. The organization aims to highlight the struggles of correctional residents by providing a platform to discuss the racial implications of incarceration and to facilitate dialogue with the community.
We believe in demythologizing the views of incarcerated individuals through the lens of misinformed community members. Our mission is to raise awareness, advocate for reintegration and promote the verity of the statement that formerly incarcerated men and women are fervent for change, growth and a second chance.
